We are pleased to provide select content from the archives of The Kumbha Mela Times to help you better understand this grand spiritual festival and how it can change your life.
In January 2001, the Himalayan Institute hosted more than 500 Westerners at the Maha Kumbha Mela in Allahabad, India. The unique alignment of the planets, constellations, and other celestial bodies during that Mela created a nexus of cosmic energy that converges every 144 years, bringing major change in the destiny of the human race. At that time, it also coincided with the turn of the century, making it a truly once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.
This event was documented with regular updates of pertinent details, activities, photos, and events through our free online newspaper—The Kumbha Mela Times. Hundreds signed up to receive The Kumbha Mela Times to attune themselves to silence and chaos, meet the sages, and watch what destiny had in store for the millions of people joining the Maha Kumbha Mela.
The Institute’s next Kumbha Mela pilgrimage takes place in early 2013. The upcoming Mela coincides with the end of the Mayan calendar, when fear and greed govern human consciousness. We can use the Kumbha Mela as an opportunity to change the course of our destiny and the destiny of the planet.
